Custom Card: Brian Matusz

21 03 2010

Kind of speaks for itself. Brian’s going to be really good someday!

In other news, tomorrow I will be sending out my second baseball TTM. After the awesome return from Buster Posey, I decided to try another young player. Stay tuned to see when it comes back. I also have three boxes from blowout coming tomorrow, which I will break and post over the next week.

That’s all,

Would Anybody Be Interested In…

18 03 2010

So, after being inspired by Beardy, I was looking at some blister packs on ebay. I found a few enticing options, but, not sure whether I want to jump in and buy multiple packs at once, I was wondering if anybody would be interested in splitting this one:

or this one:

with me. If interested, let me know and we can work out the details. The only thing that holds me back is the high shipping prices.

In other news, I’ve had a couple more TTM successes this week, with customs signed by Zack Wheeler and a ROMLB signed by Buster Posey in blue, ballpoint pen. (Yes, it worked and I got it back) I’m looking to send another one out this ST or at the start of the season, so I turn to you, loyal readers, and ask: Who should I send it to?

Please let me know if interested in the blisters or to tell me who I should send the ball to! I can always be found at hapdude1000 at yahoo dot com.

Blowout Cards Purchase: Coming Soon!

15 03 2010

Hey Everybody,

Yesterday, after looking through all of the sales on Blowout, I decided to place an order, so in the next few days I should have some boxes coming. Look for upcoming breaks of 2006 Topps 52, 2008 Just Minors Mystery Balls, and 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces. I also picked up a few magnetic holders to get my total up into free shipping land. I’m really excited to add 6 autographed cards, a relic, and an autographed ROMLB into my collection. Hopefully I get better luck with these boxes than  I did with my birthday box of Sweet Spot, which was terrible. That reminds me, I still need to contact Upper Deck about my damaged Pujols relic from that box. Anyhoo, wish me luck with my boxes and if anybody wants to trade for any of the pulls that you’ll be seeing, don’t hesitate to let me know!

That’s all!

TTM Success: Spring Training

15 03 2010

Another one came in today, postmarked from Florida. From the larger SASE, I deduced that it was custom cards, and these are from the ex-Stanford closer Drew Storen. This guy was a beast for the Cardinal, and is looking pretty good this year. I expect big things  from this guy in relief of Stephen Strassburg!

Here are the customs that I got signed:

This is my second return from Mr. Storen, with the first coming last year.

Thanks for reading!

Custom Card: Stetson Allie

13 03 2010

Inspired by Badwax’s Recent TTM Success, I decided to whip up a custom card of Stetson Allie and send it off. I hope I’ll get it back soon!

Stetson is an up and coming high schooler that is expected to get drafted pretty high.

Awesome Trade with Shot Not Taken!

13 03 2010

So, a few week s ago, I was reading the blog Shot Not Taken. Ray and I have traded before, and he seems to have a knack for pulling low-numbered Giants out of Topps packs. In our first trade, I got this:

A Tim Lincecum black parallel #/58 from 2009 Updates and Highlights.

Now, I know that Raymond collects asian players, so when I saw what he had pulled from 2010 Topps, and I know that I had to have it, I offered him a 2208 Ginter Akinori Iwamura TTM autograph and a small stack of  cards for his asian PCs. In return, he sent me a single card, but it’s an awesome one:

The very first 2010 Tim Lincecum silk card made! This card is amazing, and I’m very glad to own it. Thanks so much Ray, and I look forward to trading with you in the future!

Recent TTM Successes:

12 03 2010

Well, in the week of my absence, I got three TTM returns from Spring Training. They all took about two weeks, and I went 1/2, 2/2, and 2/2, with four shiny customs now autographed. I’ll start with the one that I got today:

I saw a small envelope, and knew that it was a normal baseball card and not a custom. It was postmarked from Phoenix. A thin envelope, I knew that there might only be one card inside, and there was:

Sorry for the crappy scan, but this is a 2009 Topps Chrome card signed by Mark Buehrle. He must have kept the 2009 Topps that I sent him with this.

Next up is an up and comer from the Mariners who is known as a terrific TTM signer. He personalized two customs for me, which was sweet! In case you haven’t guessed it, these are from Dustin Ackley:

And, last but not least, I got these from a future Giants stud that I have high hopes for. These are autographs numbers 2 and 3 of Mr. Posey:

I still don’t know why some of these guys can’t just sign where they’re supposed to, but with Buster it is forgivable. At least the autographs still look good. I also sent a ball to him a couple of weeks ago, which I really hope to get back so that I’m not out 15 bucks. I highly recommend trying all of these guys TTM, as they are all known as good signers and I got quick returns from all of them. They are all pretty big names to.

That’s it for now, but look for more posts this weekend!
